Save the Date: DeKalb County Walk of HEROES

The eighth annual 5K race benefits those struggling with mental illness, substance addictions and developmental disabilities.

The DeKalb Community Service Board and Brighter DeKalb Foundation present the eighth annual Walk of Heroes 5K this September.

Money from the event will benefit those in the community who are challenged with mental illnesses, substance addictions and developmental disabilities.

The DeKalb Community Service Board, a public nonprofit treatment provider of community-based behavioral health and developmental disability services, reaches and helps over 10,000 people annually.

The Brighter DeKalb Foundation is a nonprofit that was established to support behavioral health and developmental disability services provided by the DeKalb Community Service Board.

The Walk of Heroes 5K -- “Helping to Enable Recovery and Opportunity” -- takes place at Oakhurst Community Center, 630 East Lake Drive, Decatur. Warm-up is at 8:30 a.m. The 5K will begin at 9 a.m. and the Tot Trot starts at 10 a.m.

Registration is $25, and participants can sign up online.
