World War II Aircraft Flying into DeKalb-Peachtree Airport for 'Warbird Weekend'

Over a dozen aircraft will be on display, including a B-17 Flying Fortress, a Supermarine Spitfire, and several P-51 Mustangs.

Aviation and history enthusiasts will want to mark down Sept. 27 and 28 on their calendars, as the inaugural Atlanta Warbird Weekend is coming to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport.

Atlanta Warbird Weekend will be open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and showcase several aircraft from the Commemorative Air Force’s Dixie Wing and Arizona Wing. Featured aircraft include a Supermarine Spitfire, an SBD Dauntless dive bomber, three North American P-51 Mustangs, and the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Sentimental Journey.”

Sentimental Journey will arrive at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport before Warbird Weekend, and visitors will be offered a chance to take a ride in the big bomber from Sept. 23 - 26. Tickets for these rides can be purchased at the airport.
