ZAZAZ Will Open in Old Flanigan’s Location
With late-night pouring approved, grand opening is scheduled for next Friday.
After months of vacancy and debate about approved uses, another bar will be taking the place of Flanigan’s at 4092 Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker.
ZAZAZ, indicated in all-caps lettering on its permit from DeKalb County, will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, July 22. The business will also be celebrating its permit for late-night pouring. There was some debate about whether the business should have to conform to Tucker Overlay codes for alcohol pouring, but attorney Edward Gilgor, representing ZAZAZ, was able to establish that the business qualified to be grandfathered in under Flanigan’s permits (Flanigan’s was in operation prior to the creation of the Tucker Overlay).
Despite the blacked-out exterior and other cosmetic changes, the building is still recognizable as Flanigan’s inside and out.

With adult entertainment permits denied and the subsequent backlash from the Tucker business community, it was unclear for some time whether the business would be able to open at all. Ultimately, through Gilgor’s efforts, the owner was able to find a way to make it work and now has only a week to wait for the fruits of these labors. ZAZAZ is currently accepting applications for bartenders, waitresses and support staff.
Curiosity remains about what transpired from the time Flanigan’s closed until the application for ZAZAZ was made. Requests to speak with the owner of ZAZAZ have so far gone unheeded.
