• Walthourville to end fire fee Oct. 1, may owe back payroll taxes (thecurrentga.org) — Walthourville residents will see the controversial fire fee removed from their water bills starting Oct. 1, even as the city faces questions about years of allegedly unpaid payroll taxes. City officials are also confronting a proposed class-action lawsuit over the fee and have hired outside accountants and legal counsel, raising fresh concerns about how these moves could affect Walthourville’s newly balanced 2026 budget.
