PATH Foundation Hosts Third Annual Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead
“triPATHlon” and Splash & Dash at Chastain Park
Atlanta – February 28, 2013 – PATH Foundation has announced it will host the third annual Chastain Park “triPATHlon,” which will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013.
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. and includes a 400-yard swim in the Chastain Park pool, a 15-mile bike ride and concludes with a 5K run on the Chastain Park trail.
Proceeds from the triPATHlon will benefit the three host organizations: the PATH Foundation, Chastain Park Conservancy and Chastain Park Athletic Club.
Kids ages 6–14 can take part in the Splash & Dash race, which includes a swim and run.
“The race continues to grow each year. People love having the convenience of an intown race, and Chastain Park makes for an amazing course,” said Brian Cosgray, a PATH Foundation committee member. “This is a great way to start your triathlon race season.”
“The Chastain Park Conservancy is proud to serve as a co-host for this annual race,” said Rosa McHugh, interim executive director of the Chastain Park Conservancy. “The community has been very supportive of the race and we hope everyone will come out and enjoy our beautiful facilities during the event and throughout the year.”
“The Chastain Park Athletic Club is pleased to serve as a co-host of the triPATHlon,” said Jim King, chairman of CPAC. “Chastain Park Pool is a great family-friendly venue for competition, training and recreation. We are especially excited about how many kids are participating in the Splash & Dash race.”
The triPATHlon is a fully sanctioned USAT sprint triathlon and one of few intown triathlon events in the country. Registration is limited to 550 participants. The entry fee is $80 for USAT members and $92 for non-members. Teams will have an entry fee of $130. For the Splash & Dash, the entry fee is $25 for USAT members and $50 for non-members.
The event is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead, The Coca-Cola Company and Cox Media Group.
