Is a Gender-Bending Cartoon Hero OK?

"SheZow," a cartoon about a 12-year-old boy who turns into a female superhero, premiered last week in the U.S. Tell us if you think the show is appropriate for kids.

The latest superhero kids can root for has girl power—at least when he is not living the life of a 12-year-old boy.

American TV viewers on Saturday were able to flip to the premiere episode of SheZow on The Hub network (the network currently has the full premiere on its website).

The premise of the show, according to its page on the cable channel website: “Twelve-year-old Guy is an extreme dude who inherits the power ring of his deceased aunt—the amazing superhero SheZow! The ring gives him villain-battling super powers, but was meant to be worn by a girl and the result is absolutely she-larious!”

The cartoon is on a network that primarily targets to kids ages 2 to 11, according to a recent Los Angeles Times report.
