2 More Woodstock Officers Fired For Suspected Drug Use: Police
Three Woodstock police officers have been fired for suspected illegal drug use, the department said Wednesday.
WOODSTOCK, GA — Two more Woodstock Police officers have been fired for suspected illegal drug use after one was fired in September.
Dylan Cotter, Michael Smart and another officer, who is appealing the decision and was not identified, have been fired from the department, Public Information Officer Brittany Page told the Cherokee Tribune & Ledger News. The officers were allegedly using cocaine, the article said.
A fourth officer was being investigated, but was exonerated, Page told the paper.

In September, Officer Michael Smart was fired after anonymous tip alleged illegal drug use by one member of the department, Assistant Chief Kevin Culpepper said in a press release. It is not believed Smart was working while using the drugs, Culpepper said.
"The Woodstock Police Department is committed to thoroughness and transparency in investigating allegations of employee misconduct and want to assure the public that appropriate action will be taken when warranted," Culpepper said in the release.

Smart was the department's 2017 Rookie of the Year. Last year, Smart was recognized in the department's significant achievement report for making 57 drug arrests.
