Acworth Man Charged After Streak Of Burglaries

An Acworth man is being charged with multiple counts of burglary. He has been connected to three burglaries, and maybe more.

WOODSTOCK-TOWNE LAKE, GA -- The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has arrested an Acworth man, charging him with multiple counts of burglary and theft by deception. The arrest follows a string of home burglaries, eight since late March, in the area. Firearms, jewelry, electronics, shoes and other items were taken from homes.

Jimmy Rubin, 37, of Acworth, was arrested on May 3, according to a Cherokee County Sheriff press release. The arrest was possible because of a May 1 call about a burglary on Wade Green Road. After receiving a description of a possible suspect wearing a red shirt, a lieutenant made contact with Rubin. At the time, he was not charged with any crimes, but had latex gloves and a screwdriver on his person.

A common occurrence in the string of burglaries were back doors having been pried open. In other cases, windows in the rear of residences were smashed.
