Barrel and Barley Will Move To New Downtown Woodstock Location

The craft beer market will move into space currently occupied by Pennybag Emporium, which will close its doors.

A Woodstock business will move its venture further into the downtown central business district.

Barrel and Barley Craft Beer Market, located at 9010 Main Street, announced last week it will move to 8600 Main Street.

The new location — currently home to Pennybag Emporium — will be next door to Outspokin’ Bicycles.

When reached on Monday by phone, an employee of Pennybag Emporium said the owner, Penny Ellis, plans to retire and close the business.

Barrel and Barley said in an email blast it plans to start remodeling the new location Nov. 1 and hope to move into that space later that month or early December.

The store, owned and operated by Woodstock High School graduate Zach Yurchuck, said it plans to keep its regular business hours up until the move.

Barrel and Barley noted it will close only ”a day or two” once it’s time to pick up and move, according to the message.

The craft beer market opened in 2013 in the former location of Brenda’s House of Flowers, which moved to a location on Chambers Street.
