Citizens Public Safety Academy Now Accepting Applications
The 2017 Spring Public Safety Academy will start Thursday, March 2 in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK, GA -- Woodstock's police and fire departments are now accepting applications for the Spring 2017 Citizens Public Safety.
This session of the academy will start Thursday, March 2. The academy is a series of educational classes designed to enhance a resident's understanding of various aspects within the police and fire professions.
The program is intended to strengthen the relationship between the public and the Woodstock Police and Fire departments, as well as spotlight the responsibilities of public safety personnel and the inherent risks associated with the professions.

Some of the classes that will be offered during this series include a Civilian Response to Active Shooter (CRASE) seminar, criminal investigation procedures, crime prevention, extrication demonstration, thermal imagining camera presentation, fire safety and fire prevention.
Class members will also tour the Woodstock Fire Department, Cherokee County Fire Training Center and participate in a judgmental shooting demonstration at Georgia Public Safety Training Center at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each Thursday, March 2 through May 4 at Chattahoochee Technical College, which is located at 8371 Main Street in downtown Woodstock.
Anyone who lives, works, or has an expressed interest in the city may apply for the Citizens’ Public Safety Academy. Applicants are required to be at least 19 years of age and submit to a background investigation prior to acceptance in the program. Once accepted, positions are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
Citizens’ Public Safety Academy applications are available at the Woodstock Police Department at 12453 Highway 92 or by visiting the agency's website. The deadline for accepting applications is Monday, Feb. 27.
