Costco Announces Opening Date For Woodstock Store

WOODSTOCK, GA — The long-awaited Costco warehouse will open its doors on Thursday, Aug. 9 in Woodstock.

That's according to a Facebook event created by the wholesale giant. The opening will be held at 8 a.m. and residents will be able to sign up for a Costco membership at the store located at 113 Lincoln Street, which is off Ridgewalk Parkway.

According to the Facebook event, new members who sign up at the Woodstock location can receive a special offer. Store officials previously told Patch that the 150,000-square-foot store will include an 18-pump gas station. Guy Delmonte, southeast region operations manager for the company, told Patch in June that Costco had about 300 employees who have put in existing requests to transfer to the new store, and officials are in the process of going through those submissions.

Costco expects to hire about 200 employees to start at the store, and half of those will be from a pool of local applicants.

For those who may not be familiar with Costco, the company operates as a membership warehouse club "dedicated to bringing our members the best possible prices on quality, brand-name merchandise," according to its website. The stores typically include a bakery, fresh meat and produce sections, grocery, food courts, photo services, optometrists, pharmacies and tire service centers.

The nearest locations are at 645 Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw, 2900 Cumberland Mall SE in Cobb County and 2855 Jordan Court in Alpharetta. Other Costco locations are in Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, Duluth, Cumming, Buford, Morrow and Ft. Oglethorpe. If you are interested in applying for a position at Costco, visit the company's website.
