Beginning at 9 p.m. Oct. 30 through 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, traffic moving along I-575 northbound will be directed to exit the interstate at the Towne Lake Parkway interchange (Exit 8) and resume travel on the interstate through the I-575 northbound entrance ramp from Towne Lake Parkway.

The detour is needed to accommodate work in relation to GDOT’s Northwest Corridor Express Lanes project, the state agency said.

Towne Lake Parkway traffic will not be permitted to cross under the interstate, and on-site message boards will indicate detours for both eastbound and westbound Towne Lake Parkway traffic. Motorists should expect delays on both Towne Lake Parkway and I-575 in the area.

In another closure related to the project, one northbound and one southbound lane will be shuttered on I-575 between S.R. 92/Alabama Road and S.R. 140/ Hickory Flat Highway nightly from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Motorists are also advised to exercise caution while driving in these areas. On-site message boards indicating dates, times and detour routes will be present before the detour goes into effect.

Please be advised that construction activities, including material deliveries, may result in traffic delays prior to the start of any lane closure or detour.

Additional construction and traffic impact information and detour maps are available at the NWC project website at http://www.dot.ga.gov/DS/GEL/NWC.
