Elderly Woman Killed In Cherokee County Accident
BREAKING: The collision was reported Thursday evening on East Cherokee Drive at Lingefelt Lane in the Hickory Flat community.

CANTON, GA — A Canton woman died early Thursday evening in a two-vehicle crash in the Hickory Flat community. Deputies were dispatched to the accident around 5:13 p.m. Jan. 4 along East Cherokee Drive at Lingefelt Lane.
A preliminary report indicates a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Corey Smith, 31, of Canton, collided with a Toyota Camry driven by 80-year-old Ruth Rose, also of Canton, Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Marianne Kelley said. No details on exactly where the vehicles were positioned at the time of the crash have been released at this time.
Rose received "extensive injuries" and was transported to an area hospital, but did not survive the collision, Sgt. Kelley added.
