In addition to competing at the international event held this past weekend, the students also made a presentation. The team will be presenting at a conference in Washington, D.C. in June, and in Memphis this summer as well.
This success was the culmination of eight years of progressive improvement and work in advancing STEM education and represents tens of thousands of hours of work by students and mentors, according to Ed Barker, assistant director of Advanced Computing Services, Research Technology and High Performance Computing at Kennesaw State University, a team coach and mentor.
The Etowah students were recognized Thursday by the Cherokee County School Board.
