Freewheelin' at Wink on Saturday Night - 9 pm Lifelong musicians Mike Garrett and Frankie Aster met via Atlanta Professional Musicians, a networking website (thanks to Sean O'Rourke). Both were familiar with and involved in the “one man band” type of musical application, and this type of gig worked well for awhile, but the one man band gig can get pretty lonely. The desire as well as the need to collaborate and perform with other musicians culminated in the two joining forces, not only for the camaraderie but also for the sheer fun and electricity that one generates in the other.
Freewheelin' is guitar and bass reinforced with professionally recorded backing tracks - the guitar, bass, and vocals removed from the tracks so as to allow for a natural, live band experience. Freewheelin' is two top-shelf musicians with digital backing tracks playing anything from Motown to Country, Folk, Classic rock, Southern Boogie, soft rock favorites, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Matchbox 20, Kool & The Gang, ZZ Top, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Elvis Presley, BB King, Cornelius Bros & Sister Rose, Poison, Joe Cocker, Alan Parsons Project, Boz Scaggs, The Spinners, Roy Orbison, Soggy Bottom Boys, KC & The Sunshine Band, and the list goes on and on. A fun time is always to be had at a Freewheelin' show!
