Firefighters Win 'Guns and Hoses' Battle
The event is held to raise money for charities selected by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.
WOODSTOCK, GA -- Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services was victorious in the 10th annual Guns and Hoses 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run that was held last week at Hobgood Park.
Cherokee County Fire had the most runners to sign up for the event, which was sponsored by the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency.
The race allows Cherokee County fire and the Cherokee Sheriff's Office to solicit registrations from runners to raise money for their respective charities.

The event was open to the public and runners were asked to pick the team they wanted to run for -- Guns for the sheriff's office or Hoses for the fire department -- and part of their registration fee was donated to an area charity.
The fire department donated their winnings to the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, which provides a family-model home for area boys.

The charity for Cherokee Sheriff’s Office was the Cherokee Sheriff’s Foundation, which provides funding for charities and people in need locally in Cherokee County.
According to a representative with the CRPA, 381 runners signed up for the fire department while 361 signed up with the sheriff’s office.
The Goshen Valley Boys Ranch will receive a check in the amount of $3,810.
