Former PTA Treasurer Pleads Guilty to Theft, Gets 10-Year Probation Sentence

Kimberly Ann Turman stole thousands from Sequoyah High School girls' soccer booster club and Indian Knoll Elementary School's PTA.

A former PTA treasurer has pleaded guilty to stealing thousands from the coffers of two local schools.

Kimberly Ann Turman on Friday entered a plea of guilty to two counts of felony theft by taking and was sentenced to 10 years probation, court records show.

Turman, 42, will also have to pay restitution to both Indian Knoll Elementary School and Sequoyah High School girls soccer booster club in an amount to be determined later, perform 100 hours of community service and pay other court fines and fees.

Turman, the former PTA treasurer for Indian Knoll Elementary School, was arrested in April 2013 for stealing over $12,000 from the organization as well as over $5,000 from the Sequoyah High School girls soccer booster club.

During her probation, she will also be banned from working or volunteering at any clubs, organizations or concessions for any school or nonprofit organization in the state of Georgia and hold employment at any place that would require her to handle money.

However, she can work for a nonprofit group as long as they are shown a copy of the indictment and subsequent sentence handed down, court records show.

Turman was indicted in August 2013 on two counts of felony theft by taking — $5,882.51 from the booster club in 2012 and $12,448.61 from the PTA in 2011 and 2012.
