It was a busy week of news across the Peach State, with stories including a police officer killed in a deadly shootout, two robbers sought for a string of robberies at Waffle Houses and other businesses, and the flu continues to spread across Georgia. Here are some of the top headlines you may have missed from this week:
Gerber Baby For 2018 Is First With Down Syndrome
Gerber's "spokesbaby" for 2018 is the first baby with Down syndrome to become the face of the brand. The company announced on Wednesday that 18-month-old Lucas from Dalton, Georgia, won the judges over and was chosen from more than 140,000 entries.

Two serial robbers are on the run again after a botched attempt at hitting an Atlanta Waffle House Saturday morning, according to reports, where an armed customer fired at them. Surveillance video shows the duo scrambling out of the door.
Helpful Driver, Good Police Work Nabbed 'Freedom Fighter Bandit'

The woman charged with robbing banks around Atlanta as the "Freedom Fighter Bandit" was arrested in Tennessee after she used a ride-hailing service to get away from a robbery there, authorities say. Nilsa Marie Urena, 25, was arrested at the Greyhound bus station in Nashville. The FBI believes Urena robbed at least nine banks always claiming to do so for a social cause.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners said Monday that a resident was "never removed or thrown out" of a town hall meeting Jan. 29. Resident Julie Camp, however, stands by her claims that the county commission chairman had no right to throw her out.
The owner of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts will pay for the funeral of Edwin Jackson, the Colts linebacker and Atlanta native who was killed Sunday morning in a drunk-driving crash. Jackson was struck and killed by Manuel Orrego-Savala, 37, who was driving drunk and in the country illegally, according to state police.
Georgia Police Shooting: Officer Killed, 2 Deputies Injured
A police officer was killed and two sheriff's deputies were injured in a shooting Friday in Henry County, authorities said. The alleged shooter, who was being placed under arrest by the officers, also was shot and killed.
Winter Olympics 2018: 2 Georgia Athletes To Watch
Bobsled, figure skating, skiing and snowboarding are always favorites at the Winter Olympics, and the 2018 games opened Feb. 9 in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Several U.S. athletes have a good chance at bringing home gold medals, but you'll also want to keep an eye out for athletes from Georgia, too.
Georgia Flu Update: 66 Deaths, Hospitalization Rate Up
Georgia experienced widespread high-intensity flu statewide in the past week, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. More than a thousand Georgians have been hospitalized and 66 have died, including two pediatric cases, since the start of the season late last fall.
Johns Creek Best GA City To Live In: Study
Johns Creek is the best city in Georgia to live in, according to a recent study by 24/7 Wall Street. To start, it has relatively low poverty and a relatively high number of adults with higher education under their belt.
