Home Depot Donates Scent Wall to Cherokee K-9 Unit

The scent wall helps canines focus on the source of odors and work independently at greater distances from their handlers.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit now has a new tool to assist with their training thanks to a donation from The Home Depot on Sixes Road in Holly Springs and a citizen that wanted to help.

Cathy Mansour coordinated the donation with Paige Wood and Dominique Bidon of The Home Depot for the units new “scent wall,” the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said on Friday.

The scent wall, will be utilized by the Cherokee unit, along with K-9 teams from surrounding agencies.

The wall helps the canines focus on the source of the odor. It also allows delivery of the reward from the source of the odor, which helps the canine work independently at greater distances away from their handler.
