Officers with the Woodstock Police Department responded around 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 to a call of a person shot near the northbound entrance ramp at Ridgewalk Parkway.

The victim called 911 after traveling to the Exit 20 interchange -- Riverstone Parkway -- in Canton where he pulled over.

The victim told police he was leaving RaceTrac on Ridgewalk Parkway when a vehicle ”was following him closely behind,” Woodstock police spokesperson Brittany Duncan previously told Patch.

The motorist pulled over at the top of the entrance, and Kennedy allegedly “pulled up next to him, fired one shot into the driver side door, striking the victim in the arm before driving off,” Duncan added.

According to the indictment, Kennedy allegedly shot the victim with a .40 caliber pistol.

The victim’s teenage son was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, but he was not hurt in the incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Kennedy is set to be arraigned at 9 a.m. April 15 in courtroom 2A at the Cherokee County Justice Center.
