Mayors' Recycling Challenge Returns To Cherokee County

During June and July, Cherokee County's cities will compete to see which can collect the most recycling.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The 6th Annual Mayors’ Recycling Challenge is currently underway in Cherokee County.

This Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Going Green Committee initiative is aimed at sparking continued awareness surrounding community recycling while spurring a little friendly competition among the cities involved.

During the months of June and July, Cherokee County cities will be competing to see which can collect the most recycling. Awards will be given for most pounds of recycling collected overall, most improved, and per capita.

North Metro Waste & Hauling, Santek Waste Services of Georgia & Waste Management are partnering with the Chamber on this initiative by providing recycling containers to participating cities and tracking each city’s weigh slips, as well as tracking curbside recycling within the city.

The Chamber’s Going Green initiative mission is to encourage the community to implement green practices that conserve community resources while helping businesses thrive.
