National Night Out Set For Aug. 1 In Woodstock

The family friendly event is designed to strengthen partnerships between law enforcement and the community.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The Woodstock Police Department will partner with other public safety agencies to host its National Night Out celebration next week.

The event, which is part of the 34th annual celebration held in thousands of communities across the country, will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the Park at City Center on Arnold Mill Road.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen police and community partnerships and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are coming together to fight crime.

Woodstock's event will feature K-9 demonstrations, Cherokee County’s Multi-Agency SWAT team equipment on display, SafeKids and more activities for children of all ages. Food and drinks will be made available courtesy of Target and prepared by Woodstock Parks and Recreation Department staff. Music will also be provided by DJ Tim Cahill.

Other partnering agencies include: Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office, Cherokee County E-911 Center, Holly Springs Police Department and Woodstock Fire Department.
