Here are the top three stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:
- Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services and the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were called out to a house fire on Kemp Drive in Acworth early Tuesday morning. The scene was a bit chaotic, with two large propane tanks in the mix, four residents, one of them injured in the fire, and eight dogs, one of which ended up biting a deputy. There were no further injuries reported, and all residents and pets escaped the home prior to the rescue team's arrival. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- There is a new walking tour coming to Downtown Woodstock! The Woodstock Art Walking Tour will focus on the amazing art that can be seen around the downtown area. On October 20, three tours will depart from the Reeves House between 6 - 7 p.m. and each will last about 45 minutes or so. You can purchase tickets for $5 each here. Also, don't forget to check out Art on the Green, the Outdoor Art Market this weekend. On Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., local artists will be on the Green downtown to display their art. There will be food, live music and art to buy. (Downtown Woodstock via Facebook)
- Cherokee Recreation and Parks has been posting about some great events coming up in December. Since space is limited, it'd be a good idea to register sooner rather than later for these ones. On December 2, you can bring family and friends to a spaghetti dinner with Santa and his elves. The dinner will be at the new Hickory Flat Gym, and you can sign up for your choice of three different time slots, 5, 6 or 7 p.m. There is a sensory-friendly dinner option from 5 - 6 p.m. Santa will read and there will be cookie decorating, crafts, music, hot cocoa and desserts. Then, on December 16, there will be a Therapeutic Recreation event for individuals with disabilities and their families. Leisure Roamers Rink on the River will be taking place at The Mill on Etowah. Those ages 16 and up can skate with or without their families, the drop-off location is at The WREC, you can sign up online here. Please see the online listings for more information.
