Police to Host Active Shooter Seminar For Residents

Woodstock, GA -- The Woodstock Police Department will host a public presentation later this month that will teach residents how to survive an active shooter incident.

The C.R.A.S.E., or Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, seminar will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 21 at First Baptist Church of Woodstock.

The two-hour course is open to the public and provides citizens with strategies, guidance and plans for surviving an active shooter event, the agency said. Seats will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. While children are welcome to attend, they must be accompanied by an adult.

The seminar will be taught by Sgt. Mark Groggins, Woodstock Police Department’s Training Unit commander, in partnership with Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

C.R.A.S.E. is a course developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University and is now taught nationwide.

First Baptist Church of Woodstock is located at 11905 Highway 92 in Woodstock.
