Recycle Electronics, Shred Documents On Greenstock Day
Woodstock is also host its annual city-wide yard sale April 20-22.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The city of Woodstock will celebrate Earth Day this weekend with a slew of events designed to promote sustainability. Woodstock's annual Greenstock Day will be held Saturday, April 21, and the city will mark the occasion by hosting an electronics recycling and document shredding initiative.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. you can drop off various electronics, cell phones and batteries at Woodstock Elementary School at 230 Rope Mill Road.
All equipment will be broken down by Secure Recycling and processed so it can be reused. Collections will be done free of charge, except for TV's and CRT monitors, which will be accepted for $25. LCD monitors will be taken for $5.

Cell phones will be collected for the Cell Phones for Soldiers Program, which provide overseas service members with 60 minutes of prepaid calling service so they can stay in touch with their families. Other items accepted include compact fluorescent light bulbs, eyeglasses, hearing aids, magazines and newspapers, clothing, shoes, belts, hats, betting, towels, curtains, purses and backpacks.
Please note that light bulbs must be in a clear plastic, sealed bag before they can be accepted. The city will not accept long, tubular-style of fluorescent bulbs.

If you want to destroy some sensitive papers, Georgia Document Destruction will be on site to shred all of your confidential documents. There will be a limit of five boxes per car. For business shredding service, please call 770-516-6500.
Greenstock Day will also run during the same time the city will host its annual community yard sale. The city's annual initiative will be held April 20-22 and is part of the annual Great American Cleanup campaign, which mobilizes millions of volunteers who encourage environmental stewardship and care for the community.

Finally, the Upper Etowah River Alliance will host a land cleanup around Little River on Saturday, April 21. The cleanup will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Olde Rope Mill Park, which is at 690 Old Rope Mill Park Road. If you want to get into the water, the Alliance will host an Earth Day Paddle and River Cleanup at the park on Sunday, April 22. You can bring your boat, paddles, life jackets and lunch to the park. Organizers will meet at 8 a.m. for the cleanup.
During the entire week of April 23-27, there will be a special trash pick-up of used appliances, large items, and scrap metal by Waste Management for incorporated city residents only. These items will be picked up on your normal trash pickup day. Construction debris will not be collected.
