Registration Opens For Guns and Hoses 5K

The 12th annual event, which benefits local charities chosen by sheriff's deputies and firefighters, will be held Feb. 24 in Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The Cherokee Recreation and Parks is in the midst of planning for its 12th Annual Guns and Hoses 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run, which will be held Feb. 24, 2018, at Hobgood Park in Woodstock.

The race raises money for local charities chosen by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services. Cherokee fire will once again raise money for the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch while the Cherokee Sheriff's Foundation will have the backing of local deputies.

When registering for the race, you will pick a team -- Guns for the sheriff's office or Hoses for the fire department -- you want to represent. A portion of your fee will be donated to that agency's selected charity.

Shirts will be made available in your race packet for all 5K participants only (shirt size selections will be guaranteed for those who register by Feb. 9, 2018). All 1 -mile Fun Run participants will earn a commemorative medal. For the 5K race, awards will be given in both male and female divisions and in a variety of age groups.

The cost to register for the fun run is $10, with the price rising to $15 on Feb. 10. For the 5K, registration is $25 and rises to $30 on Feb. 10. You can register online by clicking here. Hobgood Park is located at 6688 Bells Ferry Road in Woodstock.
