Snow, Freezing Temperatures Forecast For Woodstock

Snow and rain could arrive Monday night, and this week's low temperature could plummet to 18 degrees.

Woodstock, GA -- A mixture of snow and rain is forecast for much of north Georgia -- including Woodstock and Cherokee County -- on Monday, with rain turning into all snow on Monday night.

No accumulation is expected for most of metro Atlanta, according to the National Weather Service, and no local school closings have been announced.

There is the potential for black ice overnight Monday and Tuesday, however.

In Woodstock, the weather service was calling for a 40 percent chance of showers during the day Monday with a high near 50 degrees and winds gusting up to 25 mph.

Monday night was predicted to see a freezing low of 28 degrees, with chances of rain shifting to a chance of rain and snow between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. The forecast is also calling for scattered snow showers after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be even colder.

The high Tuesday is expected to barely get above freezing, hitting 35 degrees with a 20 percent chance of isolated snow showers. The low Tuesday night could dip all the way down to 21 degrees.

The skies should clear up by Wednesday, when the high in Woodstock is expected to be 34 degrees and the low Wednesday night a frigid 18 degrees.
