WOODSTOCK, GA -- Several law enforcement agencies in Cherokee County came together Wednesday to target vehicles violating various laws related to the rules of the road.
The Cherokee Marshal's Office led the initiative along Interstate 575, which was designed to crack down on motorists failing to secure their loads, littering on the highway and driving in an aggressive or unsafe manner.
A total of 45 citations were issued May 3 for various violations, including no brake lights, unsafe vehicle operations, littering, failing to secure loads, various equipment violations, tag violations, allowing others to violate state law and operating a vehicle with no driver's license.

Additionally, officers made two arrests: failure to appear and driving while unlicensed. According to the marshal's office, the unlicensed driver was an undocumented immigrant who was operating a commercial vehicle.
The Department of Motor Vehicle Compliance Division also conducted inspections on 13 commercial vehicles. Eleven of those vehicles failed their inspection and were placed out of service.
