The agency is sounding the alarm on some recent incidents that have occurred. These events, sheriff's office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said, are not your "typical entering auto" from unlocked doors that tend to occur during the overnight hours in neighborhoods.
Within the last seven days, deputies have responded to five thefts from vehicles in which the suspects have broken the side window of a vehicle to "steal a purse that was in view from outside the vehicle," according to its Facebook page.

One of these thefts occurred at Hobgood Park in Towne Lake, two at a daycare on the east side of the county and the remaining two at a daycare in western Cherokee County.
These suspects, Baker added, are targeting cars that have purses and other valuables in plain view.
"If you leave your car parked anywhere, please take your purse with you or put it in your trunk," Baker added.
Residents should note that if they plan to place their purses in the trunks, they should perform this maneuver before they get to their destination so they do not draw attention from suspecting thieves.
