Weekend Pigskin Roundup: River Ridge Wins on Road

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch.

River Ridge 28, Temple 21 – Two late touchdowns propelled over Temple as the Knights won on the road and are enjoying the school’s first-ever win streak of two games, according to the Cherokee Tribune. Austin Terrell rushed for 149 yards and scored three times, twice on the ground and once on the happy end of a touchdown reception.

West Forsyth 21, Etowah 13 – According to head coach Bill Stewart, the Eagles started off fine in Friday’s loss to West Forsyth, but when quarterback John Oliver was intercepted and the ball returned for a touchdown, momentum shifted. is now 1-2 and needs to find a way to break off a number of wins to get back to the form many expected of the Eagles prior to the season opener. Kell 36, Woodstock 12 – The coaching staff wasn’t happy after Friday’s 24-point loss to Kell at home, and believe that the way to fix the issue is to improve how the team approaches practice.

“I think we have to go back to practice and work harder, and we need to be more focused at practice,” said head coach Brent Budde. “What we did tonight was all about how we practiced all week.” ()
