For several years now, the annual Scarecrow Invasion has brought creative design and plenty of onlookers to downtown Woodstock during the month of October.

What started as a small idea about five years ago has blossomed into a very successful and popular annual event.
This year’s Invasion had over 100 participants and has become one of the largest such events in Georgia.

Additionally, the event raises money for GROW, which is the design and beautification committee for Main Street Woodstock.
The organization is made up of volunteers who implement seasonal projects throughout the year, as well as tactical urbanism and visioning exercises.
Through registration fees and voting, this year’s Invasion raised over $4,000 that will be used to purchase additional art benches for downtown.
“It was a joy to me to see the people and the children being the best part of this year’s Invasion,” said resident Diane Geeslin who took on this project several years ago and is credited with expanding it to what was seen this year.
