Woman Indicted On Vehicular Homicide, DUI Charges

The driver is accused of causing a four-vehicle crash in March 2017 that killed 21-year-old Corey Forman of Canton.

WOODSTOCK, GA — A Canton woman has been indicted on vehicular homicide and DUI charges stemming from a March 2017 crash that killed a 21-year-old Cherokee County man. Wendy Millican was indicted by a Cherokee County grand jury last week on two counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree and one count each of reckless driving and DUI less safe, court records show.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office charged Millican in connection to the four-vehicle crash that killed Corey Forman of Canton. Deputies with the sheriff's office were dispatched to the crash around 7:30 p.m. March 10, 2017, on S.R. 140/Hickory Flat Highway just west of Jep Wheeler Road near Woodstock.

The agency previously told Patch that the vehicle driven by Millican was traveling westbound on the highway when it crossed the center line and collided with a vehicle driven by Forman.

That initial collision caused Forman's vehicle to cross the center line where it was hit by a third vehicle that was also traveling westbound. The first vehicle in the crash also collided with a fourth vehicle, which was also going eastbound. That caused the fourth vehicle to leave the roadway and slide down a steep embankment, the sheriff's office added.

According to the indictment, Millican was fatigued, distracted by a cell phone, had been taking medications that "can cause impairment and slow reaction time," and failed to maintain her lane of travel by crossing into oncoming traffic. Specifically, the indictment alleges Millican was under the combined influence of diazepam, nordiazepam, oxycodone and bupropion at the time of the collision.

A driver and two passengers in the fourth car were not injured, and the driver of the third vehicle -- which had no passengers -- was not injured. Forman was the sole occupier of his vehicle when the fatal crash occurred, the sheriff's office said.

Millican is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. March 7 in Courtroom 2A at the Cherokee County Justice Center.
