Woodstock High School Places Second in 'FalCan' Food Drive

Woodstock High School students recently donated more than 5,000 pounds of canned food for needy families this fall, winning second place in the Atlanta Falcons “FalCan” Food Drive School Challenge.

Sponsored by Publix Supermarkets, more than 65 schools across the state participated in the challenge this year, collecting 86,763 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food items.

Players and cheerleaders from the Atlanta Falcons came out to the school Dec. 3 to thank students for their efforts, which provided 4,000 meals for hungry families.

Falcons players Corey Peters and Sean Baker spent an hour with a group of 50 student representatives from the school, answering questions and signing autographs. Some of the questions students asked included what the life of a pro football player was really like; at what age they started playing sports; what career they would be in today if not professional sports (both players said they wanted to be teachers!); and the importance of team chemistry.

Peters and Baker shared a positive message with the students about staying focused on their goals and working hard to succeed.
