For many adults in the Atlanta area, primary care has become an exercise in frustration: weeks-long waits for appointments, rushed visits, and little time to address the root causes of health concerns. Dr. Michael Skardasis, a board-certified internal medicine physician with more than 25 years of clinical experience, is offering a different solution with the launch of Optimal Performance Medicine, a concierge medical practice in Woodstock focused on longevity, prevention, and whole-person care.

Rather than reacting to illness after it appears, Dr. Skardasis’ practice is designed to help patients stay healthier longer by addressing the underlying drivers of chronic disease before problems escalate.

“Traditional medicine excels in emergencies,” says Dr. Skardasis. “But for people who want to age well, preserve their energy, and reduce their long-term health risks, the system simply doesn’t allow enough time. Concierge medicine restores that time both for patients and for physicians.”

A Longevity-Focused Approach to Modern Medicine

Optimal Performance Medicine blends evidence-based internal medicine with a strong emphasis on lifestyle and longevity. Care commonly addresses conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol disorders, thyroid disease, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and weight concerns, while also focusing on foundational elements of health including nutrition, movement, sleep quality, stress regulation, and metabolic health.

“My goal is not just to add years to life,” says Dr. Skardasis. “It’s to help patients maintain clarity, vitality, and independence as they age.”

Restoring the Patient–Physician Relationship

Patients often describe concierge care as having a physician who truly knows them, understands their history, priorities, and concerns, and is readily available when questions arise.

“The peace of mind is significant,” Dr. Skardasis explains. “Patients don’t have to decide between waiting weeks, going to urgent care, or ignoring symptoms. They know they can reach me, and we’ll make thoughtful decisions together.”

Long-time patients praise his conservative, patient-centered approach:

“He is very thorough and conservative in his treatment, not one to order unnecessary tests or over-prescribe.” — Nan R.
“He is an excellent physician who listens, engages, and truly knows his stuff.” — Edith P.
“Following his medical advice has improved my overall health and given me a very high quality of life.” — John R.
