Woodstock To Host National Night Out Celebration

The annual event will take place Aug. 4 at the Park at City Center.

Woodstock residents can come out to the Park at City Center next month to take part in festivities surrounding the 2015 National Night Out celebration.

Woodstock’s first responders will host its take on the nationwide event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The event will include food, family activities, bounce houses, live demonstrations and tours of public safety vehicles.

Agencies scheduled to participate include the Woodstock Police Department, Woodstock Fire & Rescue, Woodstock Public Safety Foundation, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee Search & Rescue Team, Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, Cherokee County Animal Control, Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office, Cherokee Family Violence Center, Georgia State Patrol’s Aviation Unit, Holly Springs Police and Cherokee County’s Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) Council.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

National Night Out 2014 involved more than 38.1 million people in 16,540 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.

Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.
