Woodstock Police Offer Identity Theft Seminar

The free event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Woodstock City Church.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Next week, the Woodstock Police Department will hold a seminar focusing on cyber security and identity theft.

The free event will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Woodstock City Church.

Attendees will get an inside view of different forms of identity theft, and the techniques criminals use to steal personal information. You will also learn what these crooks do with the information they steal.

During the event, prevention tips will be provided that everyone can use at home and at work to help avoid becoming a victim of these crimes.

More than 13 million Americans are victims of identity theft in the United States each year – more than 5 percent of our population. With this in mind, Woodstock police wants to educate citizens on ways to safeguard and shield their personal information from would-be criminals.
