Woodstock Seeks Public Safety Academy Applications

The spring 2016 Citizens' Public Safety Academy will be held each Thursday from March 3 to May 5.

Woodstock, GA -- The Woodstock Police Department is now accepting applications for the Spring 2016 Citizens’ Public Safety Academy.

Scheduled to begin Thursday, March 3, the Academy is a series of educational classes designed to enhance the citizen’s understanding of various aspects within the police and fire profession.

The program is designed to strengthen the relationship between the citizens and the Woodstock Police and Fire departments, as well as spotlight the responsibilities of public safety personnel and the inherent risks associated with the professions.

Some of the classes offered during this series are: domestic violence response, criminal investigation procedures, crime prevention, SWAT demonstrations, fire safety and fire prevention.

The class will also take tours of Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, Cherokee County E-911 Center and a Woodstock fire station.

The Academy will be held each Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. March 3 through May 5 at Magnolia Hall, which is located at 108 Arnold Mill Road in Woodstock.

Anyone who lives, works, or has an expressed interest in the City may apply for theCitizens’ Public Safety Academy. Applicants are required to be at least 19 years of age and submit to a background investigation prior to acceptance in the program. Once accepted, positions are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

Applications are available at the Woodstock Police Department, located at 12453 Highway 92, Woodstock, GA 30188 or online.

The deadline for accepting applications is Tuesday, March 1.
