Woodstock Students Use Technology To Promote Literacy

Woodstock Elementary School has partnered with Woodstock High School on a new project to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and promote literacy through the use of technology.

Through the project, developed by the schools’ media specialists Pati Olton, Leslie Hicks and Amy VanFossen, Woodstock High School students in Sonya Breaux’s Spanish class performed a skit in Spanish based on the children’s book, “Por Amor Al Futbol” (“For the Love of Soccer”).
The performance was broadcast for Woodstock Elementary School fifth-graders during the After School Program using video-conferencing equipment.

Diego Breaux, a second-grader at Woodstock Elementary and the son of Ms. Breaux, translated the performance for his classmates.
Woodstock High School students who participated in the project were: Emma Abner, Blake Adkins, Grace Barham, Sarah Bohannan, Jack Brotle, Erin Brook, Elizabeth Byrne, Megan DuMond, Emma Duncan, Katherine Gilliam, Naomi Hamby, Megan Head, Alexandra Honch, Roark Jones, Nhi Lam, Hannah Menard, Maleia Miller, Alexander Nani, Brendan O’Gorman, Madison Reed, Morgan Reeg, Emma Smith, Gavin Smith, Sydni Smith and Brittany Williams.
