Woodstock Teen Found Dead Behind Publix

Carter Davis, who on Monday would have started his senior year at River Ridge High School, was found deceased in Roswell.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- A 17-year-old Woodstock resident is one of two teenagers who were found dead early Monday morning behind a Publix grocery store in Roswell.

Roswell police said a delivery driver discovered the bodies of Natalie A. Henderson, 17, of Roswell and Carter J. Davis, 17, of Woodstock just before 6 a.m. Aug. 1 behind Publix at 885 Woodstock Road.

Roswell police spokesperson Zachary Frommer said both teens suffered "head trauma," the cause of which has yet to be determined.

Natalie was at Roswell High School while Carter attended River Ridge High School in Woodstock, and Frommer said administrators at both schools "have been working to set up counselors and resources for students as needed."

Frommer stated both Natalie and Carter "appeared to be friends."

He also said detectives continue to follow up on leads, conduct interviews and review surveillance footage from businesses in the area.

The discovery of Carter's body fell on the same day the teenager was set to return to classes in the Cherokee County School District.

Spokesperson Barbara Jacoby said the district is "devastated by this tragic news."

The district, who said Carter played football and lacrosse at River Ridge, "excelled in the classroom and on the field and will be greatly missed by many friends."

"Today, he should have been enjoying the first day of his senior year of high school, which is a special time for every child and family," the district continued, adding grief counselors will be available on campus Tuesday to assist students.

Any witnesses who may have been in the vicinity during the early morning hours -- specifically between 2 a.m. and 3 p.m. -- is asked to contact the Roswell Police Department at (770) 640-4100.
