Woodstock Woman Dies in Accident on I-75
State troopers say a vehicle driven by Kathy J. Owens hit a tractor trailer parked along the interstate in Spalding County.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that took the life of a Woodstock resident.
A spokesperson with the agency said troopers responded to the accident around 12:05 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 along Interstate 75 in Spalding County.
An initial report indicates a tractor trailer was parked in the northbound left emergency lane near the Jenkinsburg Road overpass when a car traveling in the same direction “struck the truck in the rear,” the agency said.

The car caught fire after impact and its driver — Kathy J. Owens, 41, of Woodstock — became trapped inside the vehicle. The agency said Owens died of her injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
