HPD arrests suspect, seizes 11 gambling machines and $9K in cash (staradvertiser.com) — Honolulu police shut down an illegal game room in Kapolei, arresting a 49-year-old woman and seizing 11 gambling machines plus more than $9,000 in cash. The bust, coming less than two weeks after a similar Ewa Beach raid, underscores HPD's push against illegal gambling and includes a 24-hour hotline and online form for residents to report suspicious operations. 
2. Weekend shuttles ready for Made in Hawaii Festival (khon2.com subscription) — Honolulu shoppers heading to the Made in Hawaii Festival this weekend can skip convention center parking headaches by using new priority shuttles from Kaimuki High School and UH Mānoa. For $6 round-trip, riders get air-conditioned buses and expedited festival entry, with passes available online or at kiosks on both shuttle lots.

Former 'Bow Andre Ilagan to play in US Open (hawaiinewsnow.com) — Honolulu readers have a hometown tennis story to cheer: former University of Hawaii standout and Farrington grad Andre Ilagan has earned a wild card into the US Open qualifying draw, reaching his highest-ever world ranking. After early struggles on the pro tour, he's surged into consecutive finals and now hopes to represent Hawaii and its culture on one of tennis's biggest stages starting Aug. 23.
