• Requests for proposals issued for $8 million Hoʻōla ʻĀina Green Fee projects : Maui Now (mauinow.com) — Kailua’s Hāmākua Marsh is highlighted as the kind of wetland the state hopes to restore with about $8 million in new Green Fee funding. Community groups can now apply for Hoʻōla ʻĀina grants supporting forests, watersheds, wetlands and invasive-species work, with proposals due Aug. 17 through the Department of Land and Natural Resources. 
• Lanikai goes wire to wire to claim eighth straight OHCRA title (staradvertiser.com) — Kailua paddlers figured prominently in Sunday’s OHCRA championship regatta at Keehi Lagoon, where Lanikai Canoe Club captured its eighth straight large-club title. Kailua’s women’s masters 65 crew finished second in a key race as nearly 4,000 paddlers from across Oʻahu battled for points and state championship berths in 44 outrigger canoe events.
