Kailua Fourth of July fireworks show returns with free shuttle service (hawaiinewsnow.com) — Kailua’s Fourth of July fireworks are back at Kailua Beach, with free shuttles running between Lau Hala Shops’ parking garage and Kailua Beach Center from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m. Attendees can park at A&B shopping centers in Kailua Town, but organizers stress using only legal parking and catching the final return shuttle at 10:30 p.m.

A 32-year statewide review of 242 cases showed trauma, especially from cars and some wind turbines, as the leading cause, often combined with parasites or rodenticide exposure. Scientists say better awareness and targeted management could reduce preventable owl deaths.
