• Police: Scammers pose as DWS employees (hawaiitribune-herald.com subscription) — Scammers recently targeted a 65-year-old Kapaau woman by posing as Department of Water Supply workers and trying to collect a fake overdue bill at her home. Police stress that real DWS staff never show up unannounced, always use marked vehicles, and carry official ID. Residents are urged to call the nonemergency line if they encounter similar behavior.
