• Puna arson suspect arrested at airport (hawaiitribune-herald.com subscription) — A Kurtistown man has been arrested at Hilo International Airport and charged with first-degree arson after a fire destroyed the rear home and a pickup truck on his father's Orchidland Estates property. Court documents describe family members waking to smoke, failed attempts to save the house, and statements police say the suspect made about intentionally setting the blaze and his drug use.
