📰 News we're reading
• Planning Department to hold public meetings for Maui SMA boundary (mauinews.com) — Paia residents can weigh in on major shoreline management changes at an Oct. 14 meeting at the Paia Community Center, where Maui County planners will discuss a new Special Management Area boundary. The updated, science- and culture-based line could affect future development, permitting, and environmental protections along Maui's coast, so local input from North Shore communities is strongly encouraged.
• Architectural Digest named this coastal town the prettiest in Georgia (islandpacket.com) — Paia just earned national recognition on Architectural Digest's list of the prettiest towns in every state, representing all of Hawaii alongside destinations like St. Marys, Georgia and Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. While the story focuses on Georgia's winner, it still spotlights Paia's charm for travelers seeking scenic, culturally rich small towns across the country.
