Idaho Falls ice arena to open Oct. 3 (idahopress.com) — Idaho Falls families can hit the ice again when the Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Arena opens for the new season on Oct. 3, with free 30-minute skating lessons that afternoon. Pre-registration is required for the limited lesson spots, and skates are provided, with additional learn-to-skate and adult programs now open for sign-ups.
   

2. Shepherd's Inn's annual raffle fundraiser returns with over $5,000 in prizes and a chance to win a whole cow (eastidahonews.com) — Idaho Falls nonprofit Shepherd's Inn is running its 26th annual "Win the Whole Cow" raffle, raising money for free pregnancy and parenting education for local families. Residents can buy discounted tickets through Sept. 30 for a chance at a processed cow, freezer and over $5,000 in additional prizes, with proceeds funding classes, support counseling and baby supplies.
   

3. Gas prices jump 17 cents overnight in Idaho Falls (localnews8.com) — Drivers in Idaho Falls are seeing some of the steepest gas price jumps in Idaho, with regular gasoline leaping 17 cents overnight to more than $5 a gallon. Experts blame global crude oil supply issues and warn that high diesel costs could soon push up grocery, delivery, and other everyday expenses, urging residents to tighten budgets and seek rewards programs.

More than a touchdown: Kason Loveland & Thunder Ridge football (localnews8.com) — In Idaho Falls, Thunder Ridge High School senior Kason Loveland's long-practiced touchdown run became a powerful moment of inclusion for a teammate with Down syndrome. Coaches, players, and his family describe how Kason's daily presence at practices, games, and in the locker room has helped shape the Titans' culture, reminding everyone that football is supposed to be joyful and supportive.
   

5. LDS Church Leaders Urge Idaho Members to Vote Against Proposition 1 (localnews8.com) — Idaho Falls churchgoers heard a letter from LDS Area Presidency urging members statewide to oppose the Idaho Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act on November's ballot. The message, to be read over multiple Sundays, reiterates the church's longstanding opposition to abortion while emphasizing respectful, civil political engagement and directing members to official church resources for more information.
