Idaho Falls School District 91 sees surge in band and orchestra participation (localnews8.com) — Idaho Falls School District 91 has more than doubled its band and orchestra enrollment this year, and teachers are scrambling to find enough instruments for over 150 eager students. Staff say music participation boosts academics and responsibility, and they're asking Idaho Falls residents to donate trumpets, trombones and alto saxophones so every child can play.

Thunder Ridge tops Skyline in Berger Bowl, Rigby remains unbeaten at 5-0 (postregister.com) — Idaho Falls High's football team continued its turnaround with a solid win over Pocatello, pulling back to .500 and eyeing a key conference trip to Blackfoot. Around the region, Thunder Ridge dominated Skyline in the Berger Bowl and Rigby stayed unbeaten, while several other Eastern Idaho teams notched statement victories and tough losses that reshape early conference races.
   

3. Golf balls and Dalí: East Idaho artist helps high school seniors turn parking spaces into masterpieces (postregister.com) — Two seniors from Bonneville High and Idaho Falls High turned their parking spaces into large-scale murals with help from Idaho Falls artist Jacob Secrest, creating a golf-themed piece and a bold Salvador Dalí tribute. The family collaboration turned a local senior tradition into a serious art project, and Secrest is sharing more of his work online for interested east Idaho art fans.
   

4. Idaho Falls Knights of Columbus celebrate contest winner making nationals (eastidahonews.com) — A 10-year-old Idaho Falls boy, Enoch Harrison, is headed to a national Knights of Columbus free throw competition after winning a local contest hosted with Club Apple. The Idaho Falls council, founded in 1940, runs Oktoberfest, bingo nights and coat drives that support causes like the veterans wheelchair project and the Idaho Falls Soup Kitchen, and is inviting locals to get involved.
   

5. A Sign of the Times: Idaho gas prices climb again as drivers face higher costs at the pump (localnews8.com) — Idaho Falls drivers are paying sharply higher gas prices, with Idaho's average now at $4.83 per gallon—about 39 cents above the national average and $1.31 more than a year ago. Prices vary widely between stations, so residents are urged to shop around and use local gas price tools to find cheaper options across eastern Idaho and western Wyoming.
