LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL – A woman is in critical condition after a Lexus sedan plunged into and became submerged in a retention pond Monday evening in Lake in the Hills, authorities said Tuesday. Emergency crews were called to the pond in the 3900 block of Willow View Drive at about 5:57 p.m. where they found two women, a 19-year-old and a 34-year-old, along the pond's shoreline. One of the women was able to get out of the pond on her own while a bystander helped the other woman out, according to a news release from the Lake in the Hills Police Department.

Emergency personnel first at the scene immediately began performing resuscitation efforts on the unresponsive woman. Both women were taken to Centegra Hospital in Huntley.
