40 Tickets Issued In LITH Memorial Day Traffic Campaign
The local police department has released results from its holiday traffic campaign.

From the Lake in the Hills Police Department: From May 10th through May 28th, the Lake in the Hills Police Department conducted additional traffic enforcement coinciding with the Memorial Day holiday to keep alcohol and drug impaired drivers off the roadways. During this time, nearly fifty-two (52) hours of additional patrol enforcement were conducted through a grant obtained from the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).
Officers stopped thirty-nine (39) vehicles for violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code; in total, forty (40) citations were issued and two (2) arrests were made. Among these violations, four (4) citations were issued for distracted driving, four (4) uninsured motorists were cited, twenty-two (22) speeding citations were issued, (1) arrest was made for driving while license suspended, and (1) arrest was made for possession of a controlled substance. We are pleased to report that proper seatbelt safety compliance was observed by the Traffic Unit detail.
This mobilization was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois
Department of Transportation.
