Algonquin Drug Dealer Charged In Overdose Death: Police

Adam Ochoa, 29, is accused of providing William Barratt with the fentanyl-laced heroin that killed him.

KANE COUNTY, IL – A suburban drug dealer is behind bars for allegedly providing the fentanyl-laced heroin that ended up killing William Barratt, 27, of Ringwood last December. Adam Ochoa, 29, of the 500 block of Lincoln Street in Algonquin, was taken into custody Tuesday following a three-month investigation into Barratt's death, according to authorities. Barratt was found dead in a home at 44W307 Plank Road in unincorporated Burlington Township on Dec. 2, 2017.

Kane County Sheriff's Office deputies were first called to the scene for a subject who may have overdosed, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. Toxicology reports show Barratt died from an overdose of heroin that contained fentanyl.

An investigation lead detectives to Ochoa who they say supplied the illegal drugs that killed Barratt. A warrant was issued Tuesday for Ochoa's arrest and he was taken into custody that same day. He is charged with drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony, and his bail has been set at $200,000.
